Purchase & affiliate disclosure
Effective: July 2026
How recommendations are selected
Products are selected for a defined fishing, travel, or safety use case. A recommendation should explain why the product fits, its meaningful limitations, and who should choose something else. Affiliate availability is not the editorial test.
Approved products and generated searches
Research-backed pick means a named product has passed editorial review using manufacturer specifications, current availability, known use cases, and identified limitations. It does not claim hands-on field testing unless the product is specifically labeled field-tested. Trip-specific search means a report identified a gear need but no individual product has been approved for that context; the link opens retailer search results and is not an endorsement of every product shown.
Retailer comparisons
When practical, we provide more than one merchant path. Inventory, price, shipping, returns, warranties, and seller quality can differ. Always confirm that the exact model, size, power, and seller match the recommendation before purchasing.
Prices and product data
We avoid publishing a price unless it comes from an approved current product feed or API. “Check current price” means the retailer controls the live price and availability. Manufacturer descriptions, retailer images, and reviews are not copied into our report generator.
Sponsored products
Paid placement, free products, samples, or sponsorships will be identified near the affected content. Sponsored placement cannot silently replace the independent editorial recommendation.
Amazon disclosure
The site will add Amazon’s required Associate statement when an Amazon Associates account is approved and Amazon links become monetized. Until then, Amazon links may be ordinary non-commissioned purchase or search links.
